Heaven’s Burden is a song written by the Russian songwriter Daniil Gan’kov for the upcoming album of his solo project In the Shadow of Being, featuring Vladislav Pautov and Stanislav Surzhenko on vocals. The musicians found the inspiration in the sound of such bands as Architects, Periphery and Northlane.

Being paralleled with a titan named Atlas, who is mentioned in the mythology of Ancient Greece, Heaven’s Burden tells us a story of a man carrying the weight on his shoulders.

The titan was punished by Zeus and his sentence was to bear the vault of heaven, but our hero finds himself inside of the battle of his own. His burden is inside of him — his mistakes, regrets, and flaws. The hero tries to get rid of them, but they will never let him go because they are him — the reflection of the dark side of his soul, which he is responsible for. And even some hope and truth have no strength to shield him from it. In the end, the monstrous whole prevails and corrupts the man, giving him no chance for salvation. But the thing is that he annihilated his entire self just being overwhelmed by Heaven’s Burden…
